  1. It was interesting for me to hear Patti play “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” in a different context, as I saw her and her late husband Fred ‘Sonic’ Smith perform it at a benefit concert in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The hostess is the mostest!

There’s not much in the way of new information in any of this - I have well over 60 books on Bob Dylan - but there are some new and interesting perspectives. Except, perhaps, Griel Marcus, as I disagree with his assestment that Dylan could have “fooled” his audience in any way, shape or form. He simply moved on, and some of his audience didn’t understand it at the time. More, perhaps, did, as “Bringing It All Back Home” was, after all, his first gold album.

  2. Yes they love you for a second then hate themselves for it and hit you. Like the Lennon in/out doubt in the Revolution song, if you choose violence that’s what you’ll get. Che is not a pacifist. There is the guitar and there is the gun. They are not friends.
